Okay, okay

I know, I haven't posted in a long time. I'll throw a few things up for you over the weekend. Until then, please enjoy this. Apparently it's only up and free for the next few days! Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillion AND Neil Patrick Harris in a free Evil-Scientist-Musical???

Love it.

That's funny, I was going to mention the very same site to a number of people. But since Mr. Johnson has beaten me to the punch, those said people will probably find it from this site.

Needless to say, Joss Whedon is a directorial genius once again. Apparently he came up with the idea of Dr. Horrible during the course of the WGA strike last November. He wanted to shoot something that was clearly inexpensive, yet clearly refined, and at the same time create something none of us have ever seen.

I mean, think of this for a second. You have Neil Patrick Harris as a bumbling pseudo-diabolical mad scientist whose only looking for some respect and some love. You have the amazing Nathan Fillion portraying the always diluted honcho superhero who takes and receives everything in life for granted. And finally, Felicia Day, who just like the rest of the extras involved can't see through Captain Hammer's persona well enough ("His bottom layer is the same as his top. Just like a pie." Dr. Horrible adds to her). Whedon, with the help of his family members as the production crew, finally is able to deliver on a promise he once valiantly made to viewers: not to create another 'Antihero', but create an 'Antivillian'. This is perhaps something I've never conceived, but now clearly see as valid, palpable, and heartwarming.

As for casting? Well, all of the actors performed for free, as a token of their gratitude to Whedon. If it wasn't for his brilliance as a producer, director, writer, or a friend to the cast and crew, none of this would likely be possible.

On one more side note, The website will remove the videos on Midnight Sunday. However, they will be released on iTunes and DVD in the near future. So, if you're still reading this comment before even watching the Sing-along-Blog, what's wrong with you?! Grab a drink, get comfortable, and start watching. You won't be disappointed.
